Our trip to Florida

I'm super late posting these, but it was our first family trip to Florida as a family of five (Eva was technically there!). The boys had such a great time visiting with "Grandpa's Mommy and Daddy." Great Grandpa and Grandma just wouldn't stick! My dear sweet husband purposed to take me to see my grandparents since I only get to see them once a year. We knew we would miss when the rest of my family stayed there in July, so Matt took us down in April. We moved from our first house the week we returned, which is why they are just now being posted!

Zeke's favorite part was the sea foam!

Matt and Ezra actually got into the water, but it was a bit too chilly for me. Notice the blanket on me in the first picture! It was still beautiful weather.

Checking out the boats and birds down at the dock. I'm realizing how little Zeke looks in this picture! It must be the bib ;) I can't believe it's been 8 months already!

Eva will be 5 months in a couple days. It is amazing how quickly she is growing up! I am still in awe at how sweet Ezra and Zeke are to her. They are such good big brothers, and I feel like I can't take any credit. It must be innate from the Lord!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Zeke!

Our big guy, Zeke, turned two years old in November, and he requested a cowboy birthday party. It is bittersweet to realize he is now big enough to have his own ideas about what his party should be. We tell the boys that they'll always be our babies even when they're both a big daddy someday. They think that's pretty funny and usually giggle while asking us to hold them like babies. ;)

Best buddies, Ezra and Zeke :)

Our baby girl is here!

Our precious little Eva Faith arrived on July 30th, 2013 a few minutes before midnight. The tiniest baby we've had so far, she weighed a mere 7 lbs 9 oz. We kept commenting what a little peanut she was, and both her doctor and nurses assured us that Eva was plenty big. Our two big guys just made her seem like such a tiny girl! We are so thankful and praise God for her safe delivery. We know from the hardships and losses experienced by others that a healthy baby is a miracle, and we never want to take one for granted.

My conversation with Ezra yesterday after I got home from my 38 week check up.

Ezra: Momma, where's Eva?

Me: She's still in my tummy.

Ezra: She's coming soon?

Me: Yes, bud.

Ezra: I'm going to say, "Nice to meet you." Eva will be my friend. I'll say, "Do you want to play cars with me?" and she'll say, "Okay."

Happy Summer!

We've had some big changes come about the last few months which has brought our blog posts to a screeching halt. We sold our house (yea!) and moved into Matt's parents' home until we decide what's next for our family. We knew we were quickly out growing our home, but we weren't really sure what the outcome would be if we actually sold the house. We have decided that it makes sense to stay at least until baby Eva is born, and it will be wonderful having the extra help from family only a few feet away! Moving our almost family of five into the beautiful, newly yet 2ish bedroom finished basement has required some creativity and stretching for us. However, I know the Lord is using the situation for good (Romans 8:28- one of my favorites!) to teach me to really live out what we encourage our children to do, and that is to be joyful always and give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:16,18). So, it has been my prayer to be able to say along with Paul:

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Philippians 4:11

It's a girl!

Well, Ezra must have known something all along, but we found out that he is indeed going to have a baby sister! We are thrilled to be having a sweet little girl, and to be told that she looked healthy and on track to be born August 4th. I've mentioned before that both boys were nine days late, so it will be interesting to see what this little one does. :)

In sticking with the biblical theme, we have choose to name her Eva Faith. Eva is the Latin form of Eve, meaning "life", and Matt came up with her middle name. Hopefully, I don't have to do any editing in the future :), but so far, we think this is it!

And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. Genesis 3:20

Three years ago tomorrow...

It truly seems like yesterday our "big boy" was this tiny! Now, he is a fun loving three year old who brings such a joy to our life with his giggles and grins.

Your first little one is such a precious experience, and we treasure those moments with Ezra.

Ezra has been our early riser since he was born.

He has always been a curious fellow ready for his next adventure.

At 20 months when Zeke was born, Ezra was still a little guy himself.

Ezra loves to sing and often recuits the entire family to play instruments and sing with him.

Ezra is eager to be a big helper whenever he can. Here he is helping daddy shovel the driveway. Ez knows that his name in hebrew means "helper", and he beams when Mommy and Daddy remind him of this.

We love you, Ezra! Happy 3rd Birthday!

I haven't been able to upload photos lately from our camera, so I posted a few more recent phone pics. It's gotten pretty busy around here since we decided to list our house for sale. Keeping a musuem like home with a 2 yr old and 1 yr old is an exciting goal! We've only been listed for a couple weeks, so we'll see what happens. We recognize that whatever the outcome is not the whim of fate, or the will of man, but the work of God, and we can rest in that. :)
