Happy 5th Birthday, Ezra!
Has it really been five years already since our first baby was born? Ezra ended up with two parties this year, since the snowy weather we've been having made driving impossible. But being the social butterfly that God made him, he seems more than happy to host multiple gatherings. And Eva gets to have more cake, so a win-win situation for all!;) Ezra is such an encouragement to the family with his never ending enthusiasm for life and love for others. He is quick to get an item for a younger sibling without being asked or something out of reach for a much pregnant Momma. ;) We love to brag on him because we know all these are qualities are innate in him from the Lord and nothing of our doing! It has also been fun getting to have deeper conversations with him and to hear him share his little heart. We were encouraged by a friend the other day who's first born had just turned 18, and as she squeezed her very tall "baby" reminded us how quick these years go by. I am thankful for these reminders as it's easy for me to get caught up in the day to day busyness. Happy Birthday to our sweet baby!
Song for a Fifth Child
by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due (Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue? (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Our birthday princess
I am late posting an update on Eva! Her first birthday was in late July as my first trimester sickness hit. I realized I never got around to posting really anything during that time, and wow have the days flown by! I feel like it was August, I blinked, and now we're putting up Christmas lights! Miss Eva has such a little personality and her Daddy, Mommy, and brothers enjoy her so much. Watching the three of them play together is such a joy sometimes I think my heart could burst! Eva had a fun birthday party with our families and there is no question her highlight was eating the cake. ;) Our little brown eyed girl runs, twirls, hugs her brothers, eats crayons when I'm not looking, sings, loves to read, never stops moving... We can't imagine life without her! There is just something different a little girl brings to the mix. She is just soo sweet!
"But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein." Mark 10: 14-15

Two and a half
Today is the last day our sweet second born is two years old. Tomorrow, Zeke turns three which he said officially makes him a "big boy." ;) I found this sweet poem online, and it just melted this Momma's heart!
"Two and a Half"
Hold him a little longer
Rock him a little more
Tell him another story
(You've only told him four)
Let him sleep on your shoulder
Rejoice in his happy smile
He is only two and a half
For such a little while!

In other family news, we found out baby number four is going to be a boy! The boys are excited to have another wrestling partner, and Eva is still the little princess... for now! ;) We are rejoicing and thanking God for another healthy baby and His many blessings!!
